Sulfoxycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic of chloramphenicol, which has stronger effect on gram-negative bacteria than on positive bacteria. White to white crystalline powder or crystal at room temperature, oral absorption can be quickly and completely, mainly from the original form of metabolism excretion in urine. Clinically, it is mainly used for the treatment of respiratory, urinary, hepatobiliary, typhoid and other intestinal surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and ent infection, especially for mild infection. Its chemical structure is similar to chloramphenicol, and its methyl sulfone group replaces the nitrogroup of chloramphenicol, thus reducing its antibacterial effect in vivo by 2.5 to 5 times than chloramphenicol. Against gram-positive bacteria such as lung, hemolytic streptococcus antibacterial effect is very strong, such as neisseria gonorrhoeae of gram positive bacteria, meningitis diplococcus, pulmonary bacteroides, escherichia coli and vibrio cholera, dysentery bacillus and influenza bacillus had stronger antibacterial effect, the anaerobic bacteria, rickettsia, amoeba, etc also have certain antibacterial function, its mechanism of action is the same as the chloramphenicol. Mainly to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial protein, oral absorption of the drug is fast, the blood concentration can reach the peak within 2 hours, the half-life of 5 hours, more durable than chloramphenicol, the bacteria and chloramphenicol between the product and the drug and tetracycline class drugs have a complete cross resistance phenomenon.
Sulfoxycin also has a strong immunosuppressive effect and is an excellent immunosuppressant. Its mechanism of action is significantly different from that of other immunosuppressants, and its immunosuppressive effect is several times higher than chloramphenicol. It is an effective extender to reflect allograft and surgical allograft.
The sulfoxycin enteric-coated tablets produced in China are mainly used to treat respiratory tract, urinary tract and intestinal tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria such as haemophilus influenzae, escherichia coli and salmonella.
