L-cysteine, also known as cysteine, is a kind of non-essential amino acid in human body. Amino acid is the constituent unit of protein, and protein is the material basis of life. Proteins are composed of peptides whose peptide chains are composed of amino acids. Different proteins are composed of amino acids with different sequence and length of the peptide chain composition. Genes involved in heredity are also actually chains of amino acids in a different order.

 

L-cysteine is closely related to cystine, and two molecules of cysteine make up one molecule of cystine. Cysteine is unstable and easily converted to cysteine, which can also be reduced to cysteine. Both are sulfur-containing amino acids, which are responsible for the formation and detoxification of skin.

 

L-cysteine is found in keratin, the main protein that makes up nails, toenails, skin and hair. L-cysteine helps collagen production and maintains skin elasticity and texture. It is also related to the protein of digestive enzymes. Cysteine can supply -sh group to many important enzymes in the body, such as succinate dehydrogenase, lactate dehydrogenase and so on.

 

L-cysteine is mainly used in cosmetics, medicine and food. In cosmetics, for the preparation of perm essence, sunscreen, hair perfume and hair essence. In the pharmaceutical field, it is used to prepare drugs such as methyl cysteine, ethyl cysteine, acetylcysteine, methyl cysteine, ethyl cysteine and comprehensive amino acid preparations. Cysteine can be used as a protective drug against radiation damage. In terms of food, l-cysteine is used as a fermentation aid for bread (ripening agent), an antioxidant stabilizer for milk powder and juice, and a nutritive agent for pet food.
